How we verify listings
Skillyard is a curated directory, which means every business listed here has been hand-checked by a member of our review team before it goes live. Listings also get checked again if anyting changes.
Verified UK businesses
We confirm that every listing is a real UK business, whether they are a limited company or a sole trader. Where a business trades under a company name, we check it against Companies House. For every listing we confirm a genuine trading presence and make sure the business named on the listing is the business that actually runs the website they offer.
Where a business names its directors or owners, we check those match the register too. We investigate any discrepancies before publishing their listing.
Verified independent providers
We list independent trainers and coaches who deliver training themselves. We do not list marketplaces, resellers or lead-generation platforms. Only businesses who actually do the training.
We search their website and their wider online presence for real people, real trainers and real delivery. Discrepancies between what they say they offer and what they appear to offer get checked.
Our checks should filter out the websites that look like they are training providers, but are actually selling someone else's courses, or online courses delivered from abroad.
Verified specialisms
We check that the subject areas a provider lists are the areas they actually work in. We compare what they claim on their Skillyard listing against what they say on their own website and elsewhere, so the specialisms you see are consistent with how the business presents itself.
If we think more boxes have been ticked in order to increase the number of searches they appear in, we'll reject the listing. This confirms what a provider does. It is not a rating of how good they are. That judgement is yours to make.
Keeping listings current
If we only check businesses once, at point of sign up, their information can go stale. A provider could stop trading, let an accreditation lapse or move into different work. So our checks carries on after a listing goes live. Every listing carries two dates.
Active listing as of tells you the business is still trading and still wants to be listed. The date starts when we approve the listing. After that, subscribers confirm it every time their payment goes through. Listings that do not renew monthly are asked to manually confirm their continued provision of training. No listing goes more than about three months without re-confirmation, which is why you will not find businesses here that closed two years ago.
Re-verified by our team on tells you when a member of our verification team last checked the listing against the provider's own website and public presence and found it accurate. This happens when a listing is first approved, again whenever the provider edits their listing, as well as on a rolling schedule througout the year.
Edits to a live listing alert our review team immediately and are manually checked shortly afterwards. If an edit does not match how the business presents itself elsewhere, the listing comes down while we talk to them about it.
The first date tells you the business is still there and still wanting to be listed. The second date tells you when a Skillyard team member checked the details. Neither is a mark of how good the training is. That judgement is still yours to make.
