Who is responsible for your data

Skillyard is operated by Skillyard Ltd, company number 17323368, registered at 93 Badger Road, Thornbury, BS35 1AB. For the purposes of UK data protection law, Skillyard Ltd is the data controller. You can reach us about anything in this policy at hello@skillyard.co.uk.

If you are a buyer

You can browse Skillyard and contact trainers without an account, and we do not ask you to register. In normal browsing we do not collect personal data that identifies you.

If you save trainers to a shortlist, that shortlist is stored only in your own browser, on your own device. It is not sent to us, we cannot see it, and no trainer can see it. It stays with you until you clear it or clear your browser data.

If you contact us directly, for example through our contact form or by email, we will hold the details you send us for as long as needed to deal with your message.

If you list a business

To create an account and a listing, we collect the information you give us. This includes your account email address, the details of your listing such as business name, descriptions, service areas, logo and images, and the contact details you choose to publish, which may include an email address, phone number, website and social links.

We use this information to create and display your listing, to manage your account, to review and moderate listings, to contact you about your listing and account, and to take payment for your subscription. The contact details you publish on your listing are shown to buyers, because the purpose of the listing is for buyers to reach you.

Our lawful bases

We process trainer data to perform our contract with you, providing the listing service you have signed up for. We process some data on the basis of our legitimate interests in running and protecting the directory, such as moderating listings and preventing abuse. Where we rely on consent, for example for non-essential cookies, you can withdraw it at any time.

Who we share data with

We do not sell your data. We use a small number of trusted providers to run the service, and they process data on our behalf under appropriate agreements:

Supabase, for our database and file storage. Vercel, for hosting the website. Resend, for sending account and transactional emails. Cloudflare Turnstile, for protecting our forms against automated abuse. Stripe, for processing subscription payments. Google Analytics, for understanding how the site is used.

Some of these providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on appropriate safeguards recognised under UK data protection law.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and listing data for as long as you have a listing with us, and for a reasonable period afterwards so that you can reactivate if you wish and so we can meet our legal and accounting obligations. If you delete your listing, its content is removed from our systems, though your account remains unless you ask us to close it. You can ask us to delete your account and remaining data at any time.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have rights over your personal data, including the right to access it, to correct it, to have it deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive a copy of it in a portable form. Much of this you can do yourself from your dashboard. For anything else, contact us at hello@skillyard.co.uk and we will help.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, though we would appreciate the chance to put things right first.
